Air travelers who want information about the rights of persons with

disabilities in air travel or who experience disability-related air

Also, persons 62 years of age and over receive a 15% discount on the applicable adult rail fare on most Amtrak trains. Does not apply to sleeper accommodations, the Auto Train, or Weekday Acela Express Trains. Seniors are also eligible to receive a 10% discount on the purchase of North American Rail Pass.

Angel Flight Network of Pilots

Your call will be returned as soon as possible by a mission screener who will visit with you about your request.

Avis Chauffeur Drive

Costs $30 per hour with a three-hour minimum, plus standard rental car charges. Customers can rent the vehicle and use a WeDriveU chauffeur during the entire rental period or as needed. The chauffeur can pick up the Avis rental car for the customer and meet the customer wherever desired, including airline baggage claim or curbside loading zones for airport arrivals, or at a hotel or business meeting location. The driver can also handle the return of the vehicle.

Consumer Loan Program for Illinois Disabled, Illinois State Treasurerís Office (was the Ready Access Program)

 

Through this program, appropriate technological devices and transportation modifications can be financed to achieve greater mobility and self-sufficiency for disabled individuals of all ages. Call the Illinois Treasurerís Office for more information.

First Transit, an Illinois state funded service, provides free transportation to persons who have Medicaid, to doctors, dentists, and hospitals.

 

Call 1-877-725-0569 with your Medicaid card in hand.  Have the date you need service, the name and address and phone number of where you are going and then they will ask you why you need this service i.e. your disabilities. Then they will give you phone numbers to call for service providers in your area.

Chicago Taxi Access Program (TAP)

Vouchers for taxi service can be purchased by individuals with disabilities who have a Special Services ID Card for a reduced price. You will have to undergo an interview to test your ambulatory limitations. Vouchers valued up to $13.50 currently cost $5.00, but prices are subject to change. 99% of Chicago cabs will honor vouchers.

The Chicago Transit Authority's Special Services program also offers door‑to‑door transportation for people who have been certified by a physician as unable to use CTA's regular bus and rail service. This service is provided through the RTA by private carriers. For application, call.

Durable Medical Equipment, Miracle on Wheels Program

 

Providing power mobility to Medicare eligible patients who qualify under the current Medicare guidelines. To qualify for power mobility a patient must be unable to walk due to physical limitations, and must be unable to self propel in a manual chair due to upper body impairment.

The Ford Mobility Motoring Program

Provides the disabled customer with a check, directly from a Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealer, for up to $1000 toward the exact cost of the installation of adaptive equipment when purchasing or leasing any eligible new Ford or Lincoln-Mercury vehicle. General Motors Mobility Program

A disabled customer will be reimbursed for an amount matching the cost of after-market driver or passenger adaptive aids, including installation, or reinstallation, up to a maximum of $1000 when such equipment is installed on an eligible GENERAL MOTORS (GM) vehicle.
